While always insisting on a plain, literal and sensible approach to scriptural exegesis,
he has pieced together many new scriptural insights on a number of extraordinary
prophetic developments that are poised to be fulfilled in our immediate
future!
Thus, it is safe to say that things are not going to happen the way many people think
they will happen.
But, this book will give you the scriptural keys for truly understanding what God has
preordained will happen, and how you can survive the incredible scenario of prophetic
events about to unfold! |
This ministry is dedicated to the loving memory of my

so instrumental in helping me to prepare for my ministry during those many long, difficult
years.

Why Earth Will Never Be
Annihilated
An Ipsos poll says that 25 percent of adults believe it is at least somewhat likely that Jesus Christ will return to Earth in 2007 2008. Of white evangelical Christian adults it's 66%. Want to know why Jesus won't come in 2007 2008, before most find out in Jan 1, 2008 2009? »» Read Featured Article
Revelation 21:1, 5 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (KJV)
The context of this passage is immediately after the Millennium is over, and John is allowed to see the final results of the incredible reconstruction job which will be accomplished by Christ during His Millennial Reign. Both earth and its inhabitants will be perfect at that point in time, and this is the Kingdom which Christ will deliver over to God. (I Cor. 15:24-28). A new world; this is what John saw in his vision! Sometimes people teach that the world will be destroyed then, but that does NOT make any sense at all! If the earth was to be destroyed then, what would be the purpose of the Millennial Reign? So, it is not surprising to find that there are a number of biblical scriptures which teach that the earth will never be annihilated:
1. “For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away.” The Greek word for “pass away” is “aperchomai,” meaning to pass or change from one condition to that of another. It never means total annihilation! Accordingly, here is how Strong’s Hebrew-Greek Dictionary defines it:
565 aperchomai (ap-erkh’-om-ahee); from 575 and 2064; to go off (i.e., depart), aside (i.e., apart) or behind (i.e., follow), literally or figuratively: KJV— come, depart, go (aside, away, back, out... ways), pass away, be past.
2. God said that He will make “all things new,” not all new things. (Rev. 21:1, 5). At first glance, this contrast in statements may seem to be a play on words, but actually they are entirely different in their meaning! The phrase “all new things” would, in fact, mean that all of the “former things” would be obliterated or annihilated and replaced by newly-created things. But, that is not what this passage says. Instead, God said that He will take all things — and instead of annihilating them into complete extinction — will make them brand-new in appearance and condition. As Young’s Literal Translation puts it: “‘Lo, new I make all things.”
3. Paul said that when one becomes converted, all “old things are passed away” and “all things are become new.” (II Cor. 5:17). In like manner, neither will the earth be destroyed any more than a person is destroyed when they are converted to salvation and “all things...become new.”
4. Paul said that the Millennium is intended to provide Christ Jesus the opportunity to deliver over to God a PERFECT kingdom. This automatically precludes annihilation! Furthermore, why make the assumption that the reign of Christ on earth for a thousand years will culminate in a grand and glorious failure deserving total destruction and obliteration?
5. Jesus said that the years immediately preceding Armageddon would involve the greatest “affliction” ever to be experienced by mankind. But, this certainly would not be true if the earth was destroyed after the Millennium. (Mark 13:19-20).
6. God promised Noah that He would never “destroy” ALL “flesh” again. This covenant is valid for “PERPETUAL generations,” and the rainbow, which was shown to Noah as a sign, will be near God’s throne during the events of Revelation, thereby signifying that God will NOT forget His promise. (Gen. 9:11-17) (Rev. 4:3). Some people say that God only promised never to destroy the world again with water; that His promise did not include other means such as fire. But, that would have been deceptive on God’s part. Obviously God could destroy the world any number of ways, so adding this kind of (unspoken) condition to the promise that He made to Noah would have made His promise essentially meaningless. The fact is, God made a solemn covenant with Noah never to destroy the world again, and this is precisely how Noah understood it. Therefore, it is certain that God never will destroy the earth again.
7. There are several biblical scriptures which state emphatically that God’s Kingdom will be established DURING the Millennium and that it never will be destroyed. (Daniel 2:34-35) (Daniel 2:44-45) (Daniel 7:13-14) (Luke 1:32-33) (Ezek. 37:21-28) (Isaiah 45:17-18) (Isaiah 35:4-10) (Jer. 31:31-40).
8. God’s ultimate objective for His creation is complete redemption, not total annihilation. (Isaiah 45:17-18) (Dan. 2:44) (Dan. 7:13-14) (Rev. 21:1, 5) (Isa. 11:6-9) (I Cor. 15:24-26) (Jer. 31:31-40).
9. Revelation goes into great detail concerning numerous events, many of them of minor importance. So why assume that an unrecorded catastrophe of fantastic proportions occurs?
10. A superficial reading of the following scriptural passages, Revelation 21:1 and II Peter 3:7-13 and Hebrews 1:10-12 and Malachi 4:1, prompts many people to say that the earth will be annihilated after the Millennium, or that it will be renovated by fire after the Millennium. However, a careful analysis of these scriptures will reveal that they actually refer to the results of the seven plagues of fire (Trumpet-Vial plagues) described in Chapter VI of this book. Peter’s passage even provides confirmation of this by stating that this fiery destruction of the earth will occur DURING the “Day of the Lord” (previously defined as a period of Divine wrath and judgment upon the world after the Great Tribulation is over).
II Peter 3:7-13 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men....
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. (KJV)
The Greek word for “pass away” is defined as meaning “to go by or away from in the sense of changing from one condition to that of another; it never means annihilation” or extinction. Likewise, the Greek word for “elements” is STOICHEION, and it means “element, principle, rudiment.” It is used in Galatians 4:3, 9 and Colossians 2:8, 20 in reference to the principle of sin and of the present world system, including the things which humanity has made that have to be destroyed before the earth can be purified. Finally, the Greek word for both “melt” and “dissolved” is LUO, and it means to “loosen” (literally or figuratively), except in verse 12 where the Greek word for “melt” is a different word, TEKO, meaning to “liquefy.” Obviously none of these words imply an annihilation of the earth at any point in time; they simply indicate an episode of burning, melting, loosening and shaking for the earth. So, as confirmed previously, this period of burning and loosening must occur during the “Day of the Lord” — which is when the Trumpet-Vial Plagues of fire strike the earth.
Hebrews 1:10-12 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands; They shall perish (Gr. APOLLUMI; be destroyed or be ruined; but never annihilated)... and they shall be changed (Gr. ALLASSO; changed or made different). (KJV)
Revelation 21:1 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (KJV)
The Greek word for “new” is KAINOS, which is defined as “new or renewed,” especially in freshness and character, but it never means new in existence; it is in direct contrast to the Greek word NEOS which means “new in existence.” The Greek word for “passed away” is “aperchomai,” and it is the same word we saw in II Peter 3:7-13. Clearly this scripture harmonizes with the preceding biblical passages that we just analyzed. Therefore, the earth never will be annihilated or obliterated to absolute extinction; instead, it will be redeemed and purged with fire during the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord, a day of Wrath and Judgment!
