Revelation 9:13-21
13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

Revelation 16:12-16
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. (KJV)
The Euphrates river dries-up completely so “that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” But something else is also involved:
Revelation 9:14-16
Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great Euphrates river. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of horsemen (angels) were two hundred thousand thousand.... (KJV)
Four is the number used whenever the entire world is involved from a biblical perspective. That is why these four angels should be viewed as four groups of angels just as the four horsemen were considered to be four groups of saints. This concept makes sense when you read that these “four angels” will slay a third of all humanity! As further evidence, the passage implies that the “angels” and the “horsemen” are one and the same. Additionally, these angels represent a special, distinct class of the angels who rebelled with Satan eons ago during the pre-Adamite creation. Their distinction:
Genesis 6:1-4
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (KJV)
The mere fact that these “sons of God” thought that women were fair and beautiful, or that they could cohabit with women and create offspring, clearly should prove something extraordinary and exceptional is portrayed here in this passage. Certainly, it would not be noteworthy to observe that ordinary men thought women were fair and beautiful, or that the sexual union of a man and a woman could produce children. These observations alone should indicate the “sons of God” were not human! Furthermore, the very expression, “sons of God,” denotes a special meaning, especially in light of the fact that women are called “daughters of men.” Therefore, since several other Old Testament passages (Job 1:6-7) (Job 2:1-2) (Job 38:4-7) (Dan. 3:25, 28) called angels “sons of God,” why not apply the same definition here also?
It is said that giant offspring resulted from this very unusual biological mating. Numerous biblical scriptures describe these same giants as being anywhere from twelve to eighteen feet tall in height. (I Sam. 17:4) (Deut. 3:11) (Num. 13:33) (Deut. 1:28) (Deut. 2:10-21) (Deut. 9:2) (Josh. 11:21-22) (Josh. 14:12-14) (Josh. 12:4) (Josh. 13:12) (Deut. 3:13). Obviously mere human beings could not possibly produce such giant-sized offspring! Furthermore, Young’s Literal Translation translates the word “giants” as “fallen ones,” whereas Moffatt’s Translation renders the same word as “Nephilim giants.” Moreover, Strong’s Hebrew-Greek Dictionary states that the Hebrew word is NePHIYL, meaning a “feller,” i.e., a “bully” or “tyrant,” and is based on the word NAPHAL, a primary root, meaning to “fall,” literally or figuratively. The scriptural evidence, therefore, seems very clear that these giants were “(morally) fallen giants.”
Evidently, Satan’s purpose in breeding giants, both before and after Noah’s Flood, was to contaminate the human race to the point where there would no longer be any pure-bred human beings left on the earth. If that had ever happened, then it would have been impossible for Christ to take on human form and die on the cross for our sins. If Satan had been successful with this strategy, he possibly could have remained “prince of the world” indefinitely. Nevertheless, by the time that Noah’s Flood did occur, a substantial percentage of the earth’s human population was already tainted by angelic blood. However, the Bible says that not only was Noah a “righteous” man, but that he was also a “perfect” or pure-bred man because the Hebrew word used here of “perfection” is TAMIYM, meaning PHYSICAL perfection. It is used an additional 46 times in the Bible, and in every instance, it refers to sacrificial animals which were required to be of pure-bred stock! Accordingly, this helps to explain why God destroyed even children in Noah’s Flood.
Sometimes people have speculated that these “sons of God” refer to the so-called godly line of Seth (a son of Adam and Eve), and that the “daughters of men” refer to the so-called godless line of Cain (another son of Adam and Eve). But, the truth is NONE of them were godly or they would not have perished in the Flood! Besides, it is quite difficult to believe that only the men of Seth’s lineage and the women of Cain’s lineage found each other physically attractive, while their gender counterparts in both Cain’s line and Seth’s line did not. Even if one could possibly believe this silly scenario, it was still impossible! Seth had only one son (Enos) of marriageable age 325 years after creation, and Genesis 6:1-2 states that the “sons of God” took “daughters of men” at the very BEGINNING of creation when daughters first began to be born on the earth. Likewise, Cain’s lineage was completely destroyed in the Flood. (Gen. 6:18) (Gen. 7:7) (Gen. 8:18) (Gen. 9:1) (I Peter 3:20). But, since giants were born both before and after the Flood, how could women of Cain’s lineage have children, after Noah’s Flood, when they were non-existent?
Some people use Matthew 22:30 to prove that angels are sexless. But this passage only teaches there are no marriages in Heaven; it does not preclude the possibility that morally-fallen angels can acquire a sexual capability somehow or other. Furthermore, angelic beings have been seen on many occasions throughout the Bible, and in each case they appeared to be male in gender. Therefore, these “sons of God” must be angelic in nature.
II Peter 2:4-5
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell... to be reserved unto judgment... but saved Noah... (KJV)
Jude 6-7
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (KJV)
In verse 6 above, the words “first estate” are translated from the Greek word ARCHE, meaning “beginning, first, power, principality, principles, rule.” Likewise, the word “habitation” is translated from the Greek word OIKETERION, defined as “habitation, a dwelling place, or used of the body as a dwelling place for the spirit.” Thus, the angels did not keep or preserve their first estate, i.e., their own principality or beginning in the heavenlies. Instead, they left their natural habitat and entered the human realm on earth in order to marry the daughters of men. Obviously this was a blatant attempt to destroy the pure blood-line of humanity, and thereby prevent the seed of the woman from coming into the world to defeat them. Therefore, as stated above, these evil angels, similar to the people at Sodom and Gomorrha, lived contrary to their nature and committed fornication.
However, as we noted previously, the word “habitation” can also be used in a figurative sense to refer to the body in which a spirit inhabits, as illustrated in II Corinthians 5:2 where the same Greek word is translated as “house,” and is used in a figurative manner to indicate the immortal spiritual bodies of believers when they are resurrected or translated at the time of the Rapture. So, on that basis, it may be possible that a figurative meaning may be intended in Jude 6 besides the obvious literal meaning. If that is true, then this passage may be stating that not only did these angels leave their sexless, supernatural habitat in the heavenlies, but they also acquired new humanoid-type bodies in their new habitat or dwelling place, i.e., earth. Regardless, however, the morally “fallen” angels who did not commit the sex sin are still in the heavenlies with Satan UNTIL the time of the Rapture! (Rev. 12).
I Peter 3:19-20
Jesus “went and preached unto the spirits in prison; which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah.” (KJV)
These spirits are angels! (Ps. 104:4) (Heb. 1:13-14). Men have a spirit, but never are they called “spirits” anywhere in the Bible. As further evidence, if one were to assume these spirits were human, then that unwarranted assumption would be synonymous with saying that God is a respecter of persons, showing partiality to those who lived during the time of Noah. But, such thinking would destroy the very moral foundation of God in His relationships with living beings. Moreover, the Greek word for “preached” is KERUSSO, meaning to proclaim as a public crier, or to announce something whether it be good or bad; it is not the Greek word EUANGELIZO, meaning glad tidings of salvation as it would be if salvation had been preached to human beings. Furthermore, the gospel is never preached to human beings after they die because the Bible says that everyone must die and then face judgment. (Heb. 9:27). Therefore, this passage must mean that when Jesus went and preached to the evil spirits in prison, it means that He went to those evil entities to proclaim His victory over sin and evil.
The Bible states that these 200,000,000 evil angels or spirit horsemen will actually destroy one-third of all the people living on the earth! (Rev. 9:18-21). Thus, unlike most of the previous plagues, this plague will strike the entire world, not just the nucleus area of Antichrist’s empire. Moreover, the prophet Joel also envisioned these horrendous evil spirits when they are set loose upon the world to wreak death and destruction and chaos during the great and terrible Day Of The Lord:
Joel 1:15-20
15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. (KJV)
Joel 2:1-11
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? (KJV)
Regarding the identity of the “kings of the east” who are mentioned in Revelation 16:12-16 above, it is very possible that they will be vast hordes of Asian soldiers — precisely as conventional prophecy wisdom teaches. But on the other hand, they may be the group of former commonwealth nations, including the United States, who apparently are alluded to in Ezekiel 38 when they lodge a protest against the initial invasion of Israel by Antichrist, 3½ years before Armageddon begins. However, regardless of whichever group of nations it turns out to be, they will be a separate and distinct group of ordinary people who will have no direct connection to the 200,000,000 evil angelic horsemen of the Sixth Plague.
